"I need a tutor!"
That's what my niece said when she got an F in a math test. Suddenly she needs a tutor?! But she's been getting As and Bs on all her subjects! She said it was because her teacher had a confusing way of teaching math. Well, that explaaaaaains it all.
Math is not a hard subject. I should know, I was a math teacher. But it's one of those subject that ALWAYS builds on previously gained knowledge that makes it difficult for some. The other subject is English and all the foreign languages. Once you miss that previous lesson or failed to understand it, you may never understand all the next lessons.
A math tutor will help on the missed or misunderstood previous lesson and every next lesson that builds on top of it, but only to catch up. Otherwise, the tutee might get too dependent on being tutored that he will never have his own initiative to learn by himself, which is how we humans truly learn.
